Just a note, this update can prove HIGHLY beneficial to those who don't have a ranger as their "main".

To spawn the Rainbow Phoenix a r2 KoABD is required, but if the player's main isn't the ranger, they can't get it. This could get around that issue.

How about changing your secondary prof to ranger ?

The same counts for the weapons etc...
From my interpretation you are almost correct, but I doubt that would be the case if they are all the same armour. For example if you have 5 characters all of whom have norn elite armour, then I expect that would only count as 1 for the account-wide hall.

I expect it will be possible to get hold of copies of GW1 games after GW2 is released, you can often find old games on amazon or ebay, I also see no reason for them to stop selling it, if they intend (as they have said they do) to keep the servers running, then why stop selling, the more they sell the more money they get.

From a logical point of view it makes sense that accomplishments can be acquired and transfered after the release and linking of GW2. From the point of view of a continuous timeline, the GW1 achievements had happened hundreds of years ago for your GW2 characters, even if more are added they would just act like they had always been there, which would be the case.

I was also under the impression that we had been told several times that accomplishments in GW1 could still be added to the hall, and their benfits obtained in GW2, after release.

Wicked.

This is great news and makes maxing HoM, in terms of attaining maximum GW2 rewards, far more attainable and actually worthwhile imo as opposed to the uber grind-fest timesink it was before-hand and yet....

...is definitely a consideration for me when concerning the actual rewards and motivation to attain them.

I'm not a big fan of grind yet really like the idea of being able to let other players know ascetically that "Howdy there, I played a fair wack of GW1 too" but if the ability to do so is purely limited to text based title ranks, emotes, etc and not other actual worthwhile items such as armor/weapon skins that I can actually use in-game then my interest wains and I imagine any such rewards to be quickly surpassed by newer content or displayable achievements available to anyone who buys GW2.

Who cares if you uber-maxed GW1 a few months down the track?Imo people will be more concerned with GW2 related content.Having a cool looking, and otherwise unattainable, skin or item of some sort is a vastly different matter.

On a side note I wonder if they will stack or garner access to exclusive GW2 titles, if they keep the title system that is.

Anyway seeing that it's all still largely speculation I'm still undecided and will continue to place little emphasis on purely playing to max my HoM atm.

In saying thanks Anet for making it a tad more attainable if I choose to do so at a later time once more info has been released.

Great news.

What effect does this update have on that "enjoyment"?

None...it only effects the level and attainability of the GW2 rewards given in respects to grind. You can still grind to your hearts content in GW1 and display the same non-account based titles on a character by character basis if one so chooses.

aaje vhanli wasn't responding to a generic "I enjoy grind" comment but the complaint that....

Hall of Monuments accomplishments will be sent to Guild Wars 2 by account. All Hall of Monuments accomplishments for any Guild Wars character on your account will be available to every Guild Wars 2 character on your account.
Some people should have just waited for more news on the HoM system if their central motivation or expectation for grinding non-account based titles for each char was HoM and GW2 rewards.Assumption and all that.....

*prays this doesn't turn into a another grindwars thread*

At least remove customization
Don’t sweat it and fall the trap of grinding out a bunch of torments after you have already finished the hall. Its just a dumb game Anet is playing to keep people busy while waiting for GW2. Anet is pulling the rug out from under people to keep them busy. They know that the people who couldn’t run a dungeon to get destroyers weapons aren’t going to run DOA to get torment weapons. They are just trying to keep the active players busy, don’t fall for it My hall is done as well and as far as I’m concerned the changes don’t even affect me. Done is done let the chips fall where they will.

I believe the word you want is "vain." Anyway, although I think that this update is really good, I do sympathize with your lost work and achievements. It must be a real disappointing for you to see all that work seemingly lost. Though perhaps Anet will realize that this is the case with many people and will reward you for it somehow? It's not certain the duplicate achievements will be ignored.
There’s no worries about duplicate achievements, of course they won’t be lost. People post in these forums and only see what they want to see. You got these guys acting as if they have 5 characters with one title each that as an account they can roll up an Koabd which may be true, but there is no way they are going to be able to roll 5 characters each with KoaBD or 5 rewards each. Their accomplishments may be distributed differently but they are not going to get more out of the game than they put into it ..Common sense will prevail in the end. My guess is you will be able to use any achievement just once on the account and after that its used. But if you have say two protectors perhaps you get to use it twice. It won’t be as lopsided as people are hoping. No one with a stable of half-baked toons are going over into GW2 and rolling a stable of leet toons using some sort of tortured math and logic.

I'd like to see the phoenix unlocked for completing 10 titles on different chars. I don't have KoBD on a single char but cumulatively I would have r2.

I'd be more than happy with this.

Having one main char with the majority of rewards, again assuming I will actually want them, suits me fine although it would be horrible to use them up on a char only to regret it down the track yet delaying reward allocation would obviously solve this to a large degree.

Default Just awesome

So they finally removed the epic grind of having to get 5 ascended armor sets on one character and instead I can now have 5 characters with one ascended set each?

Awesomeness. But I still dont have enough inventory space, or the patience for all the weapons.

But if I have 1x elite canthan, 1x vabbi and 2x elite kurzic so far, that would only count as three sets so far? Thats not quite fair because kurzick armors are my favorites.

It's the sort of thing that would be good to know. I'd have no complaints with it - but I'd like to know before deciding on Obsidian as opposed to filling out some more duplicates.

And, possibly more importantly, it's something I'd like to know ASAP regarding hero armour remnants - I've currently got every NF hero in at least one monument, for example, but if they can only be 'pulled out' once each than I'd like to get some repeats...

It should be obvious that the account-based HoM will not reward repetition, so multiple copies of the same thing will count only once.
It's the best solution that makes the most sense and I'm really happy they will do it this way.

Its not obvious because that is not fair. Anet has been many things good and bad but they have always been fair. You think a guy with 50 titles on his account is not going to be recognized? I think not Anet will raise the bar and make things more flexible for the common player, but will never penalize players who went beyond. HoM is a transfer of achievements not a give away if you think someone with 5 "people know me" is going to be the same as someone with 5 toons with 2 titles each its not going to happen.

I'm quite happy with the system... I've got only one duplicate set of elite armor. I've got it planned out so my hall will have one of every set of elite armor from Factions, NF, and GW:EN excluding Exotic and Silver Eagle. If by the beginning of GW2 I've got enough cash I'll just buy those sets and chuck 'em in the trash so I can have them in my hall =P.

My inventory and storage are already too full for more armor sets though. I have one set per character, but 3 on my monk but only one is elite, and I dont want to delete any for a new set (i have 15k kurzick dyed pink, 1.5k kurzick dyed white, and cheap 15 armor level dyed black for my 600 set). And I dont want any other armor except kurzick 15k on my rit.

Armor storage is desperately requested please

Or maybe anything that is displayed in your HoM could also be removed from your inventory and stored there.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but say if I have R2 KoaBD on my warrior, could my ranger enter the HoM(account based) and capture the pheonix?
